There is a
"Rehire Eligibility Date" recorded on
separations to assist with managing when a person may be re-employed. The
"Rehire Eligibility Date" defaults to 1 day after the effective date of the separation, unless it is a retirement. For a retirement, this date defaults to 6 months after the effective date of the separation.
Some LEAs have policies about eligibility for rehire. Depending on why an employee separates, there may be a waiting period during which they are not eligible for rehire .
Note: if the employee is on the LEA's
Do Not Hire List, the employee is "Not Eligible for Rehire" and there will be not be a "Rehire Eligibility Date".
